Search results are presented in relevancy order. Pages with more occurrences of your search term will appear at the top of the search results.
Searches are not case sensitive and can be refined through the use of wildcard characters. A question mark (?) represents one alphanumeric character and an asterisk (*) represents zero or more alphanumeric characters. For example, a search for ?ravel would find travel and gravel, but would not find unravel. A search for *ravel would find travel, gravel, and unravel.
The search feature takes advantage of stemming technology for words. This means that the search feature will find words that derive from a common and complete word stem. For example, a search for instructional would find articles that contain instruct, instructs, instructions, and so on, but a search for instru would not, since it is a word fragment rather than a complete word. (To search for word fragments, use one of the wildcard characters mentioned above.)
Combine keyword search terms using operators and modifiers—such as AND, OR, NOT—to refine your searches. If you enter multiple words without operators or modifiers, the words will be treated as an exact phrase.
- OR retrieves documents that contain either word.
- AND retrieves documents that contain both words.
- NOT eliminates documents that contain the word that follows the "NOT" operator.
