Examination fees are nonrefundable. There is no limit on the number of times you may take the examination. Carefully select your testing date and location. If you wish to change your testing date or location, you must pay a $75 transfer fee. Should you wish to withdraw from the examination, your examination fee will be forfeited. NBC-CAM must receive written notification for any request.
Pearson VUE: If you need to reschedule your computer-based testing appointment, you must contact your Pearson VUE testing center no later than noon, Eastern Standard Time, of the third business day prior to your scheduled appointment. Leaving a message on an answering machine is not an acceptable method of canceling or rescheduling your appointment. If you fail to arrive for your appointment or cancel without giving the required notice, you will forfeit your testing fee.
Hand Score Requests
If you have taken the CMCA® Examination as a paper and pencil exam and failed, you can ask to have your examination hand-scored. There is no charge for hand-scoring. Requests must be submitted in writing to NBC-CAM within 30 days of your receipt of test scores. Hand-scoring results will be sent to you within 30 days of receipt of the request. Hand scoring is not available for the computer-based CMCA examination. If you feel that a technical issue affected delivery of your exam you may submit a written request for review of your exam delivery as directed above. Your examination delivery will be reviewed by our testing partner and results of that review will be provided within 30 days of receipt of your request.
Special Accommodations Policy
NBC-CAM abides by all applicable federal and state statutes relating to the accommodation of disabled individuals. All requests for special accommodations must be submitted in writing along with the submission of the application. Testing accommodations for candidates with disabilities will be made only with the authorization of the Board. Candidates who have requested special testing accommodations from the Board should not schedule an appointment to take the examination until receiving written confirmation of the accommodations.
Application Appeal
If your application is denied, you may submit an appeal in writing to our Board of Commissioners. The appeal will be reviewed by the Board at its next regularly scheduled meeting.
