The Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) credential, administered by the National Board of Certification for Community Association Managers (NBC-CAM), recognizes individuals who have demonstrated the fundamental knowledge required to manage community associations.
The Prerequisite Course must be comprehensive community association management education program covering at least the following topic areas:
- Meetings
- Governance and Legal Issues
- Budgets, Reserves, Investments, and Assessments
- Financial Controls
- Risk Management and Insurance
- Property Maintenance
- Contracting
- Human Resource Management
Prior to being granted approved course status, a complete application (MS Word, 111 KB) packet must be submitted.
Prerequisite Courses Include:
- Community Association Institute (CAI) M-100: The Essentials of Community Association Management

Continuing Education Course Provider Information
Continuing education is a key component of the CMCA Recertification Process. NBC-CAM's certification program requires the Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) to achieve ongoing continuing education to maintain their certification. Approved continuing education course providers are individuals or groups who have demonstrated the ability to design, implement, and evaluate continuing education programs for community association managers. Prior to being granted approved course status, a complete application (MS Word, 111 KB) packet must be submitted.
